This week I’ve been working this typewriter print. I liked the idea of combining an old piece of technology with language from modern day technology using the old fashioned method of printmaking.

Love this! How do you get the registration so aligned?

Thank you! For the registration I use a piece of grey board the size of the paper I want to print on, (usually A4). I then cut out the shape of my lino on the board so the lino sits in the cut out bit to keep it in place. So in this instance I had 2 carved blocks of lino cut to the same shape (the back colour and the detailed top layer) that fit in exactly the same spot. I then need to make sure that every time I lay my paper down it sits perfectly on top of the A4 greyboard. Most of the time this seems to work for me, although I do sometimes have slip ups! I hope this makes sense.
